Wood is associated with spring, the time of year when everything is literally springing back into life. It is when we experience the real thrust of the seasons again after the dormancy of the winter.

Everything is bursting with energy and renewed growth. It is a time of re-birth. The key words for Wood are hope, vision, birth, planning, boundaries, assertion and creativity.
Wood is associated with the emotion of anger, the Liver and Gall Bladder, the colour green, wind, sour taste, the eyes, ligaments and tendons. Wood is a dynamic yang energy which gives us our direction in life and enables us to assert what we need for ourselves. When out of balance we can become depressed, frustrated and rather hopeless. Unexpressed anger and lack of boundaries can often be at the centre of this.
